Mariann Sæther (42) is one of the best whitewater kayakers in the world. Since she was a teenager, she has challenged many norms and expectations of the society. When she becomes a mother, she is determined she can both be an extreme sports athlete and have a family. But is the life on the river really worth the risk? I Follow Rivers is a character driven film about life, death and finding balance in life. Filmed over a period of 7 years, it spans from intimate scenes from everyday life to spectacular scenes from the river, capturing both the joy and the sorrow. The film is told in observational style and through sequences of archive material.
